avid G. Smith produced the first Smith-Midland precast product, the Smith-Cattleguard, in
1960. Over the years, as we met the challenges of the times, we added a full line of farm products,
along with J-J Hooks traffic safety barriers, utility products, Easi-Set and Easi-Span buildings,
SlenderWall architectural cladding, SoftSound Soundwall, Beach Prisms erosion control barriers and
other custom designed products. Our facilities expanded from a small farm outbuilding to a modern
complex of office and production buildings on a 20 acre site.

In 1978, Easi-Set Industries was founded to license the manufacture and sale of proprietary products
developed by Smith-Midland. The five product lines licensed are Easi-Set and Easi-Span Buildings,
J-J Hooks, SlenderWall, SoftSound Soundwall, and Beach Prisms. Easi-Set has established an active
network of licensed producers in 20 states, 4 provinces and 6 countries. Members of each co-op of
licensed producers benefit from sharing their experiences in producing our products.

In 1977, a second manufacturing facility, Smith-Carolina, was established in Reidsville, North Carolina. The additional plant was needed to accommodate the ever growing business from Smith-Midland for highway and farm products. Since then, the Company has added Easi-Set and Easi-Span transportable precast concrete buildings, architectural precast panels, steam tunnels and other miscellaneous precast products boosting production ten-fold, while never deviating from the standards on which our success was built — innovation, quality, and service.

Smith-Midland’s and Smith-Carolina’s production excellence is based on a thorough understanding of
precast concrete technology backed by the skills, facilities and experience necessary to produce
quality precast products. Our manufacturing plants include steel shops, form fabrication shops,
automated concrete batch plants, and environmentally controlled casting areas. Production integrity
begins with detailed designs and is implemented with quality materials, precision molds, and extra care in finishing and handling. We place special emphasis on quality control at every stage of production, as well as making our products “Green” friendly.

We know that it is important to you to have your product delivered on time. Our storage yards hold a
large inventory of standard products ready for immediate delivery. We own and maintain a fleet of trucks and cranes capable of delivering and placing your products where you want them, when you want them.
